Zakat Calculator

Zakat is an annual obligation of 2.5% on qualifying wealth above the nisab threshold. This calculator uses live gold prices to determine your nisab and calculates your exact Zakat amount across gold, cash, investments and property.

How to calculate Zakat: Add up all your Zakatable assets — gold, cash savings, investments and investment property. If the total exceeds the nisab (the value of 85 grams of gold at today's price), you owe 2.5% of the total as Zakat. This calculator does the maths for you with live gold prices.

How do you calculate Zakat on gold?

Zakat on gold is 2.5% of the value of gold you have owned for one full lunar year (hawl), provided it meets the nisab threshold of 85 grams of pure gold. Multiply your gold weight by its purity percentage, then multiply by the current gold price per gram to get the total value. If it exceeds the nisab, pay 2.5% of that value as Zakat. This calculator pulls live gold prices from CoinGecko so the nisab and your obligation are always up to date.

What is the nisab threshold for Zakat in 2026?

The nisab is the minimum wealth threshold above which Zakat becomes obligatory. It equals either 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver. Most scholars recommend using the gold standard. As of 2026, with gold prices around $85–95 per gram, the nisab is approximately $7,200–$8,100 — but it fluctuates daily with the gold market. This calculator shows you the exact nisab at today's live gold price.

Do I pay Zakat on my house or car?

You do not pay Zakat on your primary residence or personal-use vehicle. However, Zakat is due on investment properties and rental income. If you own a second property held as an investment or for resale, its market value is Zakatable. Rental income that has been saved for a full lunar year is also subject to Zakat. This calculator has a dedicated investment-property toggle for exactly this purpose.

Is Zakat due on savings and investments?

Yes. Cash savings in bank accounts, stocks, mutual funds, retirement accounts and other liquid investments are all subject to Zakat at 2.5%, provided the total exceeds the nisab and has been held for one lunar year. Debts you owe can be deducted from your total Zakatable wealth before calculating. Toggle on the debts section in this calculator to factor them in.

What is the difference between Zakat and sadaqah?

Zakat is an obligatory annual payment of 2.5% on qualifying wealth above the nisab threshold — it is one of the five pillars of Islam. Sadaqah is voluntary charity with no fixed amount or schedule. WiseEnding tracks both: Zakat through this calculator and the My Purpose giving plan, and sadaqah jariyah (ongoing charity) as a living legacy multiplier in your Akhirah ledger.
